"Are you ready?" asks the past
"Not yet!" says the present

In this game of hide-and-seek

怖れないで叫びたいよ
温かくて輝いている君を
怖がる僕を見つける未来を
仕留めるためにせ一の!で叫ぶよ
もういいかい過去
『もういいよ』今
隠れる場所はいつであろうと
僕の心の中だったけど
君を見つけて君に隠すよ
ずっと探さなくてもいい
かくれんぼ
君も怖いなら
僕に隠れて
どこも探さなくてもいい
ここにあるよ
すぐに行けるよ

OPINION
BUMP OF CHICKEN is really great at letting the story unfold at just the right pace, even when it's a sort of metaphorical, nebulous story like this one. It seems odd at first that the one hiding keeps yelling "Are you ready?" because shouldn't it be the other way around? I think it's because the one who's "it" is too scared to find the hiding one. The roles are constantly flipping around anyway, because the two players are either friends or the same person (that up to interpretation too.)
