OPINION
This is one very BUMP OF CHICKEN-like song. The one-sided dialogue, metaphors for emotions, and sad tone with an uplifting, bittersweet ending. I feel like the "he" referred to in the song is actually the speaker, whom the listener forgot. Maybe they're childhood friends. At any rate, he's someone trying to help the listener get over old, metaphorical scars. I love the way this song goes from slow and quiet to confident and loud.
