Welcome!

Here are my translations of the songs by the band BUMP OF CHICKEN, from Japanese to English. I hope this lets more people appreciate the beautiful lyrics of BUMP!

Links to each song can be found in "Albums" and "Singles."

BUMP's official website is http://www.bumpofchicken.com/!

Feel free to contact me at lebarrow@earthlink.net!

About This Site / Contact

I created this site so that more people could enjoy BUMP OF CHICKEN's music.

The English translations (excluding songs originally in English) are all done by me!

I get my information, lyrics, and images from various sources, including free lyrics sites, blogs, and forums, so I don't take credit for those (but I occasionally modify them.) I don't always cite sources, but if you notice I've used something you made and want to be credited, feel free to contact me.

I get a lot of great information and resources from friends and people who email me! If you have news or information about BUMP that isn't here, please feel free to contact me. :)

BUMP OF CHICKEN's official site is here: http://www.bumpofchicken.com/

Please link back here if you use anything from this blog, and please don't use any of it for profit.

I'm not affiliated with the band in any way and this blog is not for profit, but please support BUMP OF CHICKEN by buying their music if you can! Click on these links to find them on Itunes and Amazon.

  1. I am so happy I ran into this website. I've been dreaming of understanding Motoo Fujiwara's words since I read English translations to laughmaker and sharin no uta many years ago.

  4. Before I started translating BUMP's lyrics by myself (which was, err, 2009?), I always relied to utau-inu (http://utau-inu.com/tag/bump-of-chicken/) or centigrade-j (http://utau-inu.com/centj/translations/translations.htm) for older lyrics. Both were administered by the same guy, but that guy for some reason has "retired" from translating last April. *sigh*
I'm glad that I can find another blog dedicated for BUMP lyrics translation, and your illustrations are refreshingly cute too. ^^v

  6. I want to thank you honestly and wholeheartedly for making this site. I was introduced to BoC back in '02 when I befriended a Japanese exchange student who practically made me borrow her minidisk player (which may as well have been magic to me at the time). She opened my eyes to Mr. Children, X Japan, Go!Go!7188, and Judy and Mary, but the ones that really hit home for me were Spitz and BUMP - it was quite literally life-changing. I could feel the raw, philosophical positivity in Motoo's verbiage and vocal approach, as well as the soaring guitar layering, but couldn't always find reliable translations. This site is just what I needed to both deepen my love for what is already one of the greatest bands I've ever come across and to help indoctrinate those wayward souls that haven't heard.

I feel like BUMP's music is a gift to the world in a lot of ways. If this site can help more people feel inspired by their songs, I will be glad. ^_^ Thanks again, and you have excellent taste in music!!

  7. I'm glad I could see the Takahashi diary I can not see now.
This is a valuable resource not found in the Japanese site.
