The Elephant Who Wore Boots / ブーツを履いたゾウさん English Lyrics Translation

ENGLISH

The Elephant Who Wore Boots

An elephant who was born in Africa
Came to our town
His eyes were so little
Next to his big ears

One morning he opened his eyes to see that winter had begun (Oh!)
A winter of cold, wintry winds
Snow had fallen that morning
It was his first time seeing snow in his entire life (this is snow)
Mr. Elephant was pleasantly surprised

Skiing, snowball fights, sledding
Mr. Elephant played like he was in a dream
But then, ouch, ouch
His skin got all chapped and cracked

Mr. Elephant cried and cried
Our town's kind shoemaker
Made him some boots (I messed up. Hm!?)
Made him some boots and gave them to him
With red straps
The brand new boots looked very nice on Mr. Elephant
And so our town's Mr. Elephant became known as
The elephant, the elephant who wore boots
The elephant, the elephant who wore boots

OPINION

According to this blog, {http://detail.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/qa/question_detail/q146979299} this song was originally sung on a program called (Songs for Everyone) and covered by Fujiwara on the radio program "School of Lock!" So it's not by BUMP, but it's still awesome. It's like a children's folk song. I get the feeling BUMP's members love kids, and they already have many of their own animal story-songs in their albums. I got the lyrics (including Fujiwara's extra comments in parentheses) from {http://allein165.blog47.fc2.com/blog-entry-102.html}. You can listen to the BUMP version at the link below!
