Arrows English Lyrics Translation

ENGLISH

Arrows

Playing make-believe that I am on a very long journey
Above the graffiti map
A lost child met a lost child
In front of the incombustable trash warehouse
Carrying a bag stuffed with
Nothing but hated memories
"I'll never get anywhere, so bury me"
I laughed

Of course we looked alive
'Cause it was that sort of place

I ask where you came from
But immediately feel ridiculous
Just what would I do if you told me
The details of why you came here?
I've gone everywhere I want to go
Beneath these tear-heavy clouds
I haven't lost anything
Yet I have this empty feeling
But still

I've gotta tell you
That it'll be OK
But I'm not OK
And I can't even move
Ahh

What you found was genuine
It's true that we met each other
If you're gonna throw it away I might as well take it
Give it here
Oh, I see
As long as I have this
I won't go hungry for a while
Let's get out of this place together

Playing make-believe that I made many friends on my journey
Underneath the pouring rain
A lost child met a lost child
And they exchanged rucksacks
Go everywhere you want to go
And when you've had enough
Then take a ride on those clouds
So close
Yet so far away

Just one
We know that we are both
Deceiving each other
No matter what the other is burdened with
It's not your business

No matter how much
You treasure it, it's a fake
But it's still true that it's precious to you
I don't need you to
Entrust anything to me
Even though I'm lost
'Cause as long as I have you
I'm sure that I can be me
Let's get out of this place together

Playing make-believe that I am on a very long journey
Beneath the clouds, no longer crying
We've separated, but when I look back
You're in front of the incombustable trash warehouse
I'm surprised that you've come back
And we exchange rucksacks once more
You bag has become stuffed full
Of nothing but wonderful memories

This time I've gotta
Say it for real
I've gotta say it
Even though I can't say goodbye

It's OK
What you found was genuine
It's true that we met each other
You can't throw it away, so let's take it with us
Along with the time you were lost
The person you met is alive
And you, also living, laughed
You walked with me who was lost
They're not fakes, they're baggage
As long as we have this
I'm sure that I can be me
Let's get out of this place together

If a tear meets a tear
On the song of the bridging arrow
After you've gone everywhere you want to go
If we meet again
Neither of us carrying any bags
Let's cross that arrow
Then take a ride on those clouds
So close
Yet so far away

JAPANESE

Arrows

OPINION

This is one of BUMP's most lyrical and pretty songs. The way it shifts and concludes is so great. The main character thinks that he has experienced all the good things the world has to offer, but the kid he meets shows him that there are a lot more wonderful experiences to be had. While these characters in the story are kids, they actually probably symbolize adults. The theme of not wanting to grow up and be an adult shows up in a lot of BUMP songs. Fujiwara is sending a message to adults not to forget to see the world like a kid playing an imaginary game… That someone can still show you a bridge that will take you into the clouds. Also as a note the original title is only in English, and the "tear" mentioned is the crying kind, not the rip-in-paper kind.
