English Lyrics Translation

ENGLISH

Planetarium

I want to widen this small room, the thought occured to me like a flash
I completed it the very next day, a handmade planetarium
The instructions for building it were written in a science textbook
I opened an imaginary hole and gave it a shy name
It was shining so hard as if it were to disappear
I stretched out my hand to see if I could touch it
I'm the only one who knows
The name of the brightest star

The ceiling and wall went away, replaced by outer space spreading out
I obtained everything without opening the window even once
Only in the corner of this small room can you find this star
Without wounding or getting hurt, I've finally caught you
The close space drew far away
And I gave up on trying to reach it
But when I stood on tiptoe I was surprised that I easily
Could reach it after all

Of course I should stop
It's obvious, but I finally really got through
This star is not you, it's just my dream
This light does not actually reach you
But it doesn't disappear on me either

I open the window of this small room, look up, and reality spins about
My heart that searches for an imaginary star is this planetarium
It was shining so hard as if it were to disappear, but would not disappear
It was so close that I could cry, but I could not reach it

Even if I cannot see you, you're shining
I try to reach you, and call your name
I'm the only one who knows of
The tears of the brightest star
It was shining so hard as if it were to disappear
I stretched out my hand to see if I could touch it
I'm the only one who knows
The name of the brightest star
I will find you one day, because wherever you are
Only I know
Only I can see you

OPINION

This is one of BUMP's many beautiful space-themed songs. It's also got light imagery again. :D What I translated as "small room" in the original Japanese is "4.5 tatami mat room." It's a pretty little room, and the reason it was articulated in the original lyrics was to show that the speaker is closed into a tiny space... so I just called it "small room" to make it simple. Wikipedia says tatami mat sizes differ by region, but the room from the song is probably around 2.73 meters long and wide, or nine feet by nine feet.
