Smile English Lyrics Translation

ENGLISH

Smile

When you've forgotten where your heart is     go search for it within a mirror
Ahh, ahh
Ask the people reflected in it.

When your chilled words grow cold     pick them up in an embrace and heal them with your warmth
Ahh, ahh
To reach the people reflected in it.

What is precious was precious     red swollen eyes     cracked voices
Ahh, ahh
The people reflected in it know.

What you can still see     what you can still hear tears flow     stomachs grow hungry
Ahh, ahh
The people reflected in it protected you.

No matter how much you hate     or doubt     or keep away
Ahh, ahh
The people reflected in it are your friends.

Your precious people were precious     what you wanted to say     what couldn't be said
Ahh, ahh
The people reflected in it are with them.

When you've forgotten where your heart is     go search for it within a mirror
Ahh, ahh
Tell the people reflected in it.

Smile at the people reflected in it.

JAPANESE

Smile

This song was written by Fujiwara Motou for everyone affected by the earthquake in Japan in March. It was released on a CD along with a music video with illustrations by Inoue Takehiko, with profits going to relief efforts.

It's a beautiful and moving song, both sad and hopeful. I hope the meaning of the words can reach more people now.
