English Lyrics Translation

ENGLISH

Weather Report

One raised umbrella
After the rain
Wet sneakers
Stepping on the chosen color

The manhole cover is safe
On the road home
Beneath the usual umbrella
There are two smiles

I can't say anything
Because I don't say anything
But even though it's like that
I still smile

That breath
Of yours
Is whatever your heart is
And this day that will surely continue
Is so sad that
It becomes dear to me

The silence clamors
Closer to my ears than usual
The next word that I utter
Will be like a gamble

One raised umbrella
In the sunset
I'm accustomed to seeing your profile
But it's like I'm seeing it for the first time

I saw that time you were hurt
From up close
So I'll try to smile
For you before your eyes

If that smile
Of yours
Would forgive anyone
The I want to at least see
The inside of your umbrella
Forgive you

There are times that I consider
That I should not reach out to you, but
I've gotta admit that it's a cowardly excuse
It's just that I'm afraid to know your pain

The final school bell
Has rung long ago
At the intersection in front of the car store
We say
See you again tomorrow

I cross the river on the highway
And turn to look back
You're standing on top of the manhole cover
Twirling your umbrella

That smile
Of yours
Was concealing your heart
On the other side of your umbrella
I'm sure that
The traffic light was red

That breath
Of yours
Probably condemned you so many times
And though this day will continue
Before that happens
I want to embrace you

I'm going to go and embrace you

At the intersection in front of the car store
Reflected in the show window
Sharing an umbrella, all alone
I embraced you

I embraced you with my own will

OPINION

Two friends walk home together after school. One doesn't say much, but he knows his friend hides pain behind a smile. Finally, he gets up the courage to hug his friend and does. Good for you Fujiwara!!! This is one of the few BUMP songs where the person the speaker is singing about and the speaker, instead of being separated, actually get to be together. In Japanese culture, two people sharing a single umbrella means they are really close and it's often a romantic symbol. I love how the manhole cover starts off as a "safe" spot in a childrens' game, but ends up being a place the sad friend tries to take refuge in. Even if he couldn't find the words, the singer does the kind thing and goes to hug and reassure his friend.
